Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin has been an actress in Canada and New Zealand for over a decade. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath. For this role she received the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. She is the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. She was cast as Flora McGrath the daughter of a muffled Scottish pianist who, in the late 19th century relocates into New Zealand for an arranged wedding after she accepted an open audition call; she was nine years old. Paquin was cast as the child title in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in the year 1996. She also played the lead role on the screen in Fly Away Home, a movie from that same year. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the Spanish queen in a lesser role. She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). She also was the character of the teenage groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
