Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is a journalist, writer, philanthropist and television host and the owner of The Huffington Post. Born in Greece then moved to England at the age of sixteen. At Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in economics. The first graduate from outside the UK to be elected the president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. Following her graduation, she was an influential Conservative syndicated journalist. A few more years later she created The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political landscape. Her fame and popularity helped by attracting a variety of high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts on news, politics, and other topics. Arianna's popularity began in 2003, when she was a candidate for an independent for the California recall election to succeed then-Governor Davis. Alongside this, she led the Detroit initiative to encourage the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes named her the most powerful female in the media industry in 2009. Her ranking was in the 12th spot on Forbes' list. The Guardian also included her to the top 100 list of media outlets in the year 2009. AOL Inc. appointed her President of their media division in 2011 following the bought The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post was joined by other AOL brands, including Engadget AOLmusic Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. While she was close to her father, her connection to her mom shaped the rest of her life. From her early years, she showed leadership abilities that are still highly regarded. When she was sixteen, she left America to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college, where she was the third and first female to serve as president. In 1972 she graduated with an advanced degree in Economics. After her graduation, she was an editor of the critic's column and a television host. In addition, along with Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
