Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the chief executive officer of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an independent liberal news outlet, is a television personality author, author and charitable donor. Her birthplace was in Greece and moved to England at the age of sixteen. At Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA of Economics. When she was 21, she became the president of the renowned debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. After her graduation, she was a prominent right-wing syndicated reporter. A few more years later she created The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political landscape. The celebrity she enjoyed helped her to convince several celebrities to contribute their opinion about current affairs, political and culture. Arianna was famous when she made the decision in 2003 to run as an Independent candidate in the California Recall Election to replace former Governor Davis. She also headed the Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Her name was voted as the most Popular Women in Media according to Forbes in 2009 and was awarded the 12th place in that list. In the same year Guardian named her on the top 100 media list. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her the head of the media unit, which comprised of many at the time-current AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Her character was formed by her closeness to her mother as well as her relationship with her dad, even though she was very close to her father. Even as a young girl, she showed leadership traits which she is still renowned for. She moved to England at 16 to continue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. She joined the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college and was the third female to be elected the president. In 1972, she earned an honorary degree in Economics. Following after graduation she became an editor of the critic's column and a television host. She also appeared alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editing assistance.
